aria-labelledby=\"characteristics-of-the-faculty\"><p><strong>Basic information:<\/strong><br \/>\u2022 Tunnel rehabilitation<br \/>\u2022 Tunnel length: 487 m<br \/>\u2022 Excavation area: 67 m2<\/p><p>The tunnel under the Ljubljana Castle was built in 1959 as a direct link between the Karlovsko Street and Poljanska Street. It was built as a two lane bi-directional tunnel in accordance with the standards in force at the time. From the opening, until the commencement of the rehabilitation it operated practically without any major interventions or repairs. In the recent period in the inner lining the cracks started to appear and consequently a small inflow of water could be observed, which signalled to the dilapidation of the inner lining. All of the above listed led to a thorough reconstruction of the interior of the tunnel lining by creating a more efficient control of the collection and discharge of water, which was a prerequisite for lasting stability and smooth operation of the tunnel.<br \/>In the first phase of the reconstruction damaged part of the inner lining was removed to a depth of not more than 25 cm in the entire length of the tunnel, which amounts to 487 m. Such reprofilation enabled the construction of clearance profile in compliance with the current regulations. After the completed outer lining a waterproof membrane and linear drainage was installed.The inner lining was carried out in the thickness of 30 cm.
